Today I'm going to show you how to make a mini wall hanging using the Flip and Stitch method making the petals of a daisy.

Follow along and have fun!

To make the daisy petal with the Stitch & Flip method:

  • Cut contrasting fabrics-one 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" and two 2" x 2" squares.

  • Draw a diagonal line on the wrong sides of the small squares.

Cut fabric with daisies.

Fabric marking pen, ruler and daisy fabric print.
Draw lines

  • Place a small square on the corner of the large square, right sides together.

  • This is your sewing line.

Cut fabric with erasable pen.
Place on the corner, RST
  • Next, pin and sew on the line.

HINT: I like to sew on the outside of the line just a smidge away from the corner. Doing so enables the corner to flip much easier. Let me know if this helps you.

Ready to sew fabric with a sewing machine.
Sew just a smidge on the side of the line.
  • Using a ruler to measure, trim seam to 1/4", (sometimes I eyeball it and use my scissors).

ruler and rotary cutter measuring 1/4" and cutting.
Trim-I used a different fabric for this step.
  • Press corner open.

Pressing fabric with an iron.
I love my little iron.

Stitch & Flip Corner
Very Easy!

  • Continue on the opposite corner to make another one.

  • I used coordinating fabrics to make the mini wall hanging you see below using the Stitch & Flip method. Very easy and comes together pretty quickly.
